Baseball Game Preview: Thompson Valley Eagles vs. Timnath Cubs

The Thompson Valley Eagles will head out to challenge the Timnath Cubs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Thompson Valley has given up an average of 8.1 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thompson Valley lost 14-5 to Poudre on Thursday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brayden Cronin and Cameron Denning did some serious damage despite the final result: Cronin went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Denning went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Dominic Pasquinelli was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Timnath waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Wildcats. The Cubs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.

Connor Novick looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Dane Wyman was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Timnath: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Caden Poynter also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Timnath hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.

Timnath's record now sits at 8-6. As for Thompson Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

Thompson Valley beat Timnath 6-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cubs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
