Baseball Recap: Ripon Christian's Winning Streak Snapped at Seven Games

Ripon Christian dropped their record down to 13-10 on Thursday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Hilmar Yellowjackets, falling 9-1. The Knights were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the six matchups prior), but the Yellowjackets' pitchers proved too tough.

Ripon Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ricky Van Unen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.

As for Hilmar, they pushed their record up to 17-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The win continues a trend for them in their matchups with Ripon Christian: they've now won three in a row.

On Hilmar's side, they got a great performance from Marlin Kindberg as he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). Kindberg has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on John Labno, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cohen Felber, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Ripon Christian nor Hilmar have any future games scheduled.
