Softball Recap: Iota Picks Up 12th Consecutive Victory

Iota came tearing into Tuesday's game with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Cecilia a 10-0 shutout. Iota might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 matches by eight runs or more this season.

Haydyn Schexnayder made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Iota got a massive performance out of Charli Sonnier, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Chloe Darbonne was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Iota was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in 12 consecutive contests.

Iota's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 28-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Cecilia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-22 record this season.

Iota will have a chance to go back-to-back against Cecilia: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Wednesday.
