American Canyon won the last time they faced Benicia and things went their way on Friday too. The Wolves strolled past the Panthers with points to spare, taking the game 28-9. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while the Panthers are ranked 523rd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Isaac Anderson and Andre Lopez. Anderson rushed for 76 yards and a pair of scores while Lopez rushed for 106 yards and one touchdown. Anderson also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble and making seven total tackles (3.0 for loss).

American Canyon was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 334 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Benicia only rushed for 82 rushing yards.

One reason for the win was American Canyon's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. In that department, Lorenzo Seymore was the leader with two. Jona Budu was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making seven total tackles (2.0 for loss).

American Canyon now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Benicia, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, American Canyon will square off against Hayward at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Benicia, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Miramonte at 7:00 p.m.
