Basketball Game Preview: Fremont Tigers vs. Columbus Discoverers

Fremont is 7-2 against Columbus since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Fremont Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Columbus Discoverers at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Fremont was able to grind out a solid victory over Buena Vista, taking the game 40-28. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Bison recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Jenna McClain was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 17 points and 12 boards. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 8.2 rebounds per game. Another player making a difference was Kate Denker, who posted seven points.

Meanwhile, Columbus posted their biggest victory since January 4th on Tuesday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 49-19 win over Burke. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Discoverers had established a 26 point advantage.

The victory made it two in a row for Columbus and bumps their season record up to 10-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.5 points over those games. As for Fremont, their record now sits at 7-13.

Fremont took a serious blow against Columbus in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 61-29. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Fremont was down 38-18.
