Football Recap: Eagle Mountain Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Eagle Mountain's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They strolled past the Burkburnett Bulldogs with points to spare, taking the game 38-23. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Knights' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 754th).

Eagle Mountain had a senior duo take command as TERRY STARKS rushed for 183 yards and two TDs while picking up 7.6 yards per carry and BRYCEN VINDIOLA rushed for 118 yards and one score on only eight carries. Those 118 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for VINDIOLA.

Eagle Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.6 points over those games. As for Burkburnett, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Eagle Mountain is set to challenge their familiar foe Bridgeport at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant wideouts against one another: STARKS and Dylan Hunter. Meanwhile, Burkburnett will square off against rival Brock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
