Softball Recap: Marshfield Pirates vs. Marist Spartans

Marshfield extended their losing streak to nine on Friday, dropping their season record down to 6-12 in the process. They fell 10-6 to the Marist Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-12 on Tuesday.

As for Marist, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.6 runs over those games.

For Marist's part, Arabella Martinez was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Martinez was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Bridget Stephenson was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases and three runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Sydney Hoffstot was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Marist beat Marshfield by a score of 18-8 later that day.
