Football Recap: Mountain Heritage Starts off Right with Win over Pisgah + How To Watch

Mountain Heritage gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They really took it to the Pisgah Bears for the full four quarters, racking up a 48-19 victory. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Cougars had established a 28-point advantage.

Leading Mountain Heritage to victory were Cason Jones and Brayden Deyton. Jones gained 186 total yards, while Deyton rushed for 85 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten carries. The dominant performance also gave Deyton a new career-high in passing yards (146).

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mountain Heritage was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 322 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 179 rushing yards in 14 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Mountain Heritage didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Malachi Huskins and Cole McGee.

Looking ahead, Mountain Heritage will venture away from home to face off against Erwin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pisgah, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Swain County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
