Soccer Game Preview: Bartlett vs. West Anchorage

Bartlett is 0-10 against West Anchorage since May of 2019 but things could change on Saturday. The Golden Bears will square off against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Bartlett has given up an average of 7.6 goals per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Bartlett is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Chugiak, who was ranked 11th at the time (Bartlett was ranked 20th). The Golden Bears came up short against the Mustangs on Thursday, falling 14-0. Bartlett's defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it six in a row.

Meanwhile, West Anchorage entered their tilt with Bettye Davis East Anchorage on Friday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They never let the Thunderbirds get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. West Anchorage might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by three goals or more this season.

Bartlett's loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for West Anchorage, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2-1.

Bartlett suffered a grim 7-2 defeat to West Anchorage in their previous meeting last Wednesday. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Golden Bears were down 5-0.
