Softball Recap: Cape Fear Colts vs. Douglas Byrd Eagles
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cape Fear). They were the clear victor by a 24-0 margin over the Douglas Byrd Eagles on Friday. The Colts might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by eight runs or more this season.
McKinley Kolasa was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Amari Adams was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Allie Dawson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
