Basketball Recap: Dixie County Takes a Loss

Dixie County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 51-27 to the Lafayette Hornets. The matchup was a close 18-17 at the break, but unfortunately for the Bears it sure didn't stay that way.

Lafayette found their leader in sophomore Sophia Kendrick, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 boards. That's the most rebounds Kendrick has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tristan Campbell, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 11 points.

Dixie County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Lafayette, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dixie County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Bell at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lafayette, they and Chiefland will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Chiefland will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Lafayette surely won't give up without a fight.
