Basketball Recap: River Valley Takes a Loss

River Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They fell 77-64 to the Vinton County Vikings. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 67-56 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why River Valley lost, don't look at Braden Bennett. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 30 points and ten boards. Those 30 points gave Bennett a new career-high. Landon Burns was another key player, going 7 for 14 en route to 14 points and eight rebounds.

River Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Vinton County, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.

River Valley has already played their next contest (against Meigs), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Vinton County will face off against Alexander at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vinton County has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 195 points over their last three matchups.
