Softball Recap: West Cabarrus Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

West Cabarrus came into Friday's contest having lost 19 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past the Olympic Trojans 16-1 on Friday. Considering the Wolverines' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Brooklyn Brower was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kamryn Weaks, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Ayana Baptist was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base.

West Cabarrus' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Olympic, their loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3.

Coming up, West Cabarrus will square off against Lake Norman at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Lake Norman has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Olympic, they will challenge South Mecklenburg at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Olympic's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
