Basketball Recap: Gallup Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Gallup can now relate to. They were beaten by the Artesia Bulldogs 91-57 on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Bengals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 18th).

The defeat snapped Gallup's winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 17-12 record. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points over those games. As for Artesia, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.

As of now, neither Gallup nor Artesia have any future games scheduled.
