Basketball Recap: Dover-Eyota Takes a Loss

Dover-Eyota was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a blow against the Pine Island Panthers, falling 85-44. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while the Panthers are ranked 90th).

Dover-Eyota's loss came despite strong showings from Mat Matejka and Luke Meyers. Matejka posted 13 points, while Meyers had 13 points.

Dover-Eyota's defeat dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Pine Island, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dover-Eyota and Wabasha-Kellogg will face off at 7:15 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. As for Pine Island, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers face off against the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
