The Sequoyah Chiefs will head out on the road to face off against the Alcoa Tornadoes at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Sequoyah was handed an 11-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Maryville Christian 5-4. The Chiefs haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on James Lynn, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Byrum, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Alcoa came out on top against William Blount on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run fifth inning. The Tornadoes were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Governors. Considering the Tornadoes have won eight games by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Myles Cox was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brodie King, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Alcoa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Sequoyah's record is now 8-14. As for Alcoa, their record now sits at 12-7.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Sequoyah has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .445. However, it's not like Alcoa struggles in that department as they've averaged .460. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sequoyah came up short against Alcoa when the teams last played back in April of 2023, falling 8-4. Can the Chiefs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
