The Kingman Academy Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Mohave Accelerated Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Kingman Academy is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
Kingman Academy had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 23-run drubbing they dealt Trivium Prep on Monday. Kingman Academy's pitcher stepped up to hand Trivium Prep a 23-0 shutout. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by nine runs or more this season.
Brady Sanders made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only zero hits, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Kingman Academy let Ava Sanders and Taylee Mote run wild. Sanders went a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, two doubles, and one triple, while Mote went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs Sanders has posted since back in April of 2024. Brooke Espinoza was another key player, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Kingman Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .567. They are undefeated (12-0) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Mohave Accelerated entered their tilt with Flagstaff last Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 10-6.
Kennedy Lamb was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Tanner Banks was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. She is also on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Rayli Marin, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.
Kingman Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Mohave Accelerated, their record is now 14-2.
Kingman Academy suffered a grim 14-2 defeat to Mohave Accelerated when the teams last played back in February. Can Kingman Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
