Basketball Game Preview: Andover Central Jaguars vs. Salina Central Mustangs

The Andover Central Jaguars will venture away from home to challenge the Salina Central Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Salina Central took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Andover Central, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Andover Central strolled past Newton with points to spare, taking the game 46-29. The Jaguars pushed the score to 40-18 by the end of the third, a deficit the Railroaders cut but never quite recovered from.

Taylin Tabor continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9 for 17 en route to 23 points. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Emma Cooper was another key player, putting up three points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Meanwhile, Salina Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Andover and fell 84-28. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while the Trojans are ranked 15th).

The victory made it two in a row for Andover Central and bumps their season record up to 9-5. As for Salina Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Andover Central strolled past Salina Central in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a score of 45-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for Andover Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
