Softball Recap: Shawnee Takes a Loss

Shawnee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Zeigler-Royalton Tornadoes, falling 15-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Redskins of the 9-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2016.

Shawnee saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eliza Ford, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Aniston Nicholson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Shawnee's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Zeigler-Royalton, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Looking ahead, Shawnee will host Villa Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Redskins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Devils have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Zeigler-Royalton, they will challenge Trico at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tornadoes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pioneers have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
