Volleyball Game Preview: Chino Hills Huskies vs. St. Lucy's Regents

The Chino Hills Huskies will head out on the road to take on the St. Lucy's Regents at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Thursday, Chino Hills didn't have quite enough to beat Etiwanda and fell 3-2. The Huskies have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Chino Hills wouldn't go down easily and took Etiwanda into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking seven-point loss. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-10, 25-21, 23-25, 15-8.

Despite the loss, Chino Hills had strong showings from Yanizza Gutierrez, who had 23 digs and two assists, and Natalia Pochay, who had five digs and four aces. Gutierrez has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more digs the last nine times she's played. Haven Jones also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Meanwhile, St. Lucy's came up short against Arcadia on Saturday and fell 2-0.

St. Lucy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Chino Hills, they now have a losing record of 13-14.

Chino Hills beat St. Lucy's 3-1 in their previous meeting back in September. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
