Football Recap: Gulfport Skates Past Pascagoula with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gulfport). They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 53-13 win over the Pascagoula Panthers. The Admirals have beaten the Panthers the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.

Cooper Crosby was his usual excellent self, rushing for 90 yards and two scores, while also picking up 31 receiving yards and one TD. Another rusher making a difference was Isaiah Ellison, who rushed for 57 yards and one touchdown.

Gulfport's run defense was locked in: Pascagoula could only muster -0.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Pierre Felder for the heroic effort on defense: he. Gulfport didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.7.

Gulfport's defense didn't let Jarrad Loper Jr., get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for six sacks. Pascagoula's QB won't forget Deandre Williams anytime soon given he sacked him three times. Williams is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least seven every time he's taken the field this season. Gulfport got some further help from Javon Anderson: he picked up 1.5 sacks, forced two fumbles, and made four total tackles (2.0 for loss).

When it comes to explaining why Pascagoula lost, don't look at La'Darion Pickett Jr.. Despite the final result, he picked up 113 receiving yards and one TD. Pickett Jr. showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 52 yards. D'Lass Nunnery also helped out with an impressive 93 receiving yards.

The victory got Gulfport back to even at 2-2. As for Pascagoula, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Gulfport has already played their next game, a 41-28 win against Ocean Springs on the 3rd. As for Pascagoula, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Picayune at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. The contest will give the Panthers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
