Gray's Creek had won nine straight at home, but on Friday they bumped their record up to 18-2 to make it ten. They came out on top against the Cape Fear Colts by a score of 13-8. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Colts: they've now won three in a row.

Hailey McFarley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Amariya Green, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was August Kebort, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

As for Cape Fear, they moved to 19-4 with that loss, which also ended their 11-game winning streak. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this game were averaging 3.65 runs allowed.

On Cape Fear's side, Allie Dawson was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Addie Davis was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run.

Gray's Creek wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 22-0 win against Douglas Byrd on the 29th. As for Cape Fear, they have also already played their next contest, an 8-2 victory against Jack Britt on the 29th.
