Fern Creek is a perfect 5-0 against Whitefield Academy since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. It was a proper cat-fight when Fern Creek challenged Holy Cross on Tuesday. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Cougars 5-3. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly two runs.

Skylar Brown made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had over her last six games. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lakelyn Maloney, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Zariah St. Gerard was another key player, earning two runs and two stolen bases.
Whitefield Academy couldn't beat Butler on Monday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fifth inning. The Wildcats fell 12-8 to the Bears.
McKenna Sims stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Ragsdale, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
Fern Creek's victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Whitefield Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Fern Creek has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. However, it's not like Whitefield Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .454. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fern Creek took their win against Whitefield Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-0 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
