On Monday Dalton Cole pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The performance marked the fewest earned runs Cole has had since back in March. As if that's not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was his third in a row with less than two hits. On the year, he has an ERA of 5.25 over 6.7 innings pitched.

Even though Cole couldn't lead John Carroll over Loyola Blakefield, he won't have to wait long to try again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots are 8-2 against the Dons going back to April of 2021, a lead they'll look to extend.
