Football Recap: Hudson Takes a Loss

Hudson had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-4 to make it seven. They were outmatched by the River Ridge Royal Knights and fell 40-9. If the Cobras were looking for revenge after losing 31-14 to the Royal Knights when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Christian Garrett threw for 96 yards and one touchdown. Kembo Gober was his top target, picking up 44 receiving yards. On the ground, Antony Doston rushed for 44 yards.

As for River Ridge, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 27.0 points this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead River Ridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jonah Clouse, who rushed for 109 yards and one score on only ten carries. Those 109 rushing yards gave Clouse a new career-high. Dareal King also helped out with an impressive 94 receiving yards.

Looking ahead, Hudson is taking a road trip to challenge Dunedin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for River Ridge, they will host Countryside at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The match will give the Royal Knights their first taste of in-conference action this season.
