Softball Preview: Harleton Wildcats vs. Ore City Rebels
For the second straight game, Harleton will face off against Ore City. Harleton will look to defend their home field on Friday against Ore City at 5:30 p.m.
While Harleton's victory against Ore City wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Harleton sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over Ore City on Tuesday. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
For Ore City's part, Jordan Johnson put in work no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Johnson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
Johnson wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Keylee Richardson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Richardson a new career-high in doubles (two). Kayla Peckham was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
Harleton's win bumped their record up to 5-13. As for Ore City, they moved to 5-12-1 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
