Volleyball Game Preview: Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. Hoover Patriots

Roosevelt hasn't had much luck against Hoover recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Rough Riders will face off against the Patriots at 5:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Thursday, Roosevelt came up short against Madera South and fell 3-1. The Rough Riders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The 3-1 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-27, 25-23, 25-23, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Hoover came up short against Madera South on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The loss continues a trend for the Patriots in their meetings with the Stallions: they've now lost eight in a row.

Hoover was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 27-25, 25-15, 25-15.

Roosevelt's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Hoover, their loss dropped their record down to 11-18.

Everything went Roosevelt's way against Hoover in their previous matchup back in March, as Roosevelt made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rough Riders since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
