It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lake Belton had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Melissa Cardinals a 2-0 shutout. The Broncos are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 25 straight.

Lake Belton pushed their record up to 35-2 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Melissa, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 34-1.

Lake Belton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cardinals: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Friday.
