Softball Recap: Phoenixville Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Phoenixville waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Pennridge Rams.

Katie Clarke made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Lexi Henn and Abby Boylan did most of the damage at the plate: Henn went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double, while Boylan went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three RBI gave Henn a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maple Paraons, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Phoenixville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.

Phoenixville's record now sits at 10-7. As for Pennridge, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Phoenixville will welcome Upper Merion Area at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Phantoms will need to watch out since the Vikings have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups. As for Pennridge, they will host Central Bucks East at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
