Baseball Game Preview: Granbury Pirates vs. Timber Creek Falcons

The Granbury Pirates will be taking part in a tournament against the Timber Creek Falcons at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Granbury 3.3, Timber Creek 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Granbury is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Memorial just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Mavericks by a score of 5-4.

Caden Sudderth made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run. Levi Martinez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Timber Creek earned a 5-1 win over Chisholm Trail on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.

Griffin Jones looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Jackson Avery and Jacob Bennet did most of the damage at the plate: Avery scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Bennet went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave Avery a new career-high in doubles (two).

Timber Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chisholm Trail only posted an OBP of .250.

Timber Creek's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-4. As for Granbury, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
