Basketball Recap: De Beque Skates Past Hayden with Ease

There's no place like home for De Beque, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They really took it to the Hayden Tigers for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-23 win. The Dragons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 21 points or more this season.

De Beque's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Vines, who went 6-for-14 en route to 20 points and seven boards. Vines is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Avery Rigsby was another key player, dropping a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds.

De Beque smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 16 consecutive games.

Hayden's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Howard, who posted seven points and nine boards. That's the most points Howard has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sydney Wattles, who had four points and five rebounds.

De Beque has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Hayden, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. De Beque will welcome Plateau Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Plateau Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Hayden, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Caprock Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
