Baseball Recap: Plymouth Now 11-1 over Last 12 Games

Plymouth proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 23) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Lincoln Railsplitters 5-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-0 two weeks ago.

Trevor Carlton looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jackson Asaro, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted over his last four matches. Nick Riebschleger was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Plymouth has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-18 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln, they dropped their record down to 14-29 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Plymouth will venture away from home to challenge Detroit Country Day at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lincoln, they will head out to face off against Belleville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Railsplitters are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
