Soccer Game Preview: Fountain-Fort Carson vs. Sand Creek

The Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans will take on the Sand Creek Scorpions at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Fountain-Fort Carson's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Last Thursday, Fountain-Fort Carson didn't have quite enough to beat Pueblo West and fell 2-1. One thing that didn't help Fountain-Fort Carson's chances was the red card they were dealt courtesy of Johandry Gonzalez.

Fountain-Fort Carson used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Pueblo West. Three players got more time on the pitch than they're used to: Kaiden Morey (80), Riess Hernandez-Mitchell (70), and Jaxson Sprouse (80). The trio had averaged 49.3, 44.6, and 46.4 minutes respectively before Thursday's matchup. Sprouse made the most of the opportunity, putting up one assist A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Meanwhile, Sand Creek's game on Wednesday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Elizabeth by a score of 2-1. Sand Creek fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against Elizabeth since Wednesday.

Sand Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11-1. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7-2.

Fountain-Fort Carson took their victory against Sand Creek in their previous meeting back in August of 2024 by a conclusive 5-1 score. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Scorpions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
