Softball Recap: Odem Finds Home Field Redemption Against Taft

There's no place like home for Odem, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Taft Greyhounds 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Owls have posted against the Greyhounds since March 18, 2022.

Aria Bray spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Julia Garza was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Odem pushed their record up to 13-14 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Taft, they moved to 16-9 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Odem will square off against George West at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Taft, they will face off against Mathis at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Greyhounds surely won't give up without a fight.
