Basketball Recap: Aaron Castellon's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pinecrest Prep over Homestead

The Pinecrest Prep Crocs came up short against the Homestead Broncos on Tuesday and fell 61-54.

Pinecrest Prep lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Aaron Castellon, who posted 17 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Guzman, who had 16 points and three steals.

Homestead's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nicolas Liz led the charge by going 5-for-8 on his way to 14 points along with eight boards and five blocks. Another player making a difference was D'Angelo Montalvo, who shot 56% from the field to rack up 12 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Pinecrest Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Pinecrest Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 75-28 victory against Palm Glades Prep Academy on the 19th. As for Homestead, they will challenge Westminster Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
