A feisty cat fight will be fought as Leon Lions duke it out with Altha Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Leon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12 runs per game this season.
Leon barely beat Mosley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Leon put the hurt on Mosley with a sharp 18-3 win on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Lions needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Kamryn Smith made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-6.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lamonika Sims, who scored four runs and stole Two bases. while going 4-for-6. Another player making a difference was Jailyn Nickeo, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.
Leon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .522. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mosley only posted an OBP of .323.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Altha was a bit more limited in their contest on Monday. They came up short against Holmes County, falling 19-1.
Altha saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tarrin McCrone, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Leon's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Altha, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.
