Softball Game Preview: Flippin Bobcats vs. Salem Greyhounds

Flippin hasn't had much luck against Salem recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bobcats will face off against the Greyhounds at 4:00 p.m. Flippin has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Flippin couldn't beat Cave City on Monday even though they stacked six runs on them in the fifth inning. The Bobcats came up short against the Cavemen, falling 22-8.

Rylee Hickey made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Raelynn Wegener, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Salem unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Melbourne. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Greyhounds couldn't push the score so high this time.

Callie Hall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

Flippin's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Salem, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 10-1 and their overall record down to 13-2.

Flippin suffered a grim 15-2 defeat to Salem in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
