Baseball Game Preview: St. Raphael Academy Saints vs. Narragansett Mariners

The St. Raphael Academy Saints will face off against the Narragansett Mariners at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Raphael Academy has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with five straight defeats, while Narragansett will come in with three straight wins.

St. Raphael Academy came up short against Middletown on Tuesday, falling 11-4.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Narragansett). They put the hurt on Rogers with a sharp 19-7 victory on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mariners considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Zayden Kent made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Narragansett got a massive performance out of Drez Owens, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits Owens has posted since back in April of 2025. Jackson DiFilippo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with five runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

St. Raphael Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Narragansett, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.

St. Raphael Academy skirted past Narragansett 1-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Do the Saints have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mariners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
