League recap: Parkersburg South winning streak up to six games

Two Rivers league recap: 5/7/12

Parkersburg South (26-12, 4-4) is red-hot, having won six straight games, the longest such streak in Two Rivers. The streak was extended by another 8 games over the past week, includinga 6-4 victory over St. Albans and a 6-3 win over Nitro.

Brooke made the biggest jump in the national rankings, moving from 36 to 33 thanks to a 5-5 record over the past week.

University's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 35 hits and 10 walks to lead the league in both categories. On the season, the Hawks have allowed just 214 hits, while striking out 121 batters. Zachary Stoldt leads the Hawks with 33 strikeouts in 32 innings.

University, the season leader in runs scored at 188, added to its total with a league-high 41 runs this week. Trey Shreve is the team leader in runs scored with 32, while Travis Renner has driven in a team-best 26 runs with his bat.



University's Jimmy Montague led the league with eight hits this week. He is sixth in the league with 25 hits this year, and has a .357 batting average.

Lucas Trovato notched a multi-hit game on May 2, 2012 when he went 4-4 in University's 7-3 win against East Fairmont. He also drove in two runners and scored one runs.
