Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cornwall Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Danny Twomey, who threw for 162 yards and three touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 33 yards and one score. The dominant performance also gave Twomey a new career-high in passer rating (163.2). Reef Morrison was another key receiver, picking up 165 receiving yards and three TDs.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Cornwall Central proved: they limited Wallkill to a paltry 2.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Quadir Truluck for the heroic effort on defense: he. That's the most yards per carry they've managed all season.
Cornwall Central's defense didn't let Jj Detz, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Truluck with two. Cornwall Central received some extra help from Jaziha Maisonet, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Warwick and Goshen Central had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 29-6 margin over the Gladiators on Saturday. That looming 29-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wildcats yet this season.
Cornwall Central better keep an eye on Giacomo Abbate. He was instrumental in Warwick's win, rushing for 112 yards and one score.
Warwick didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Sean Perez, Logan Conley, and Quenten Liciaga picked up one apiece. Conley got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-6. As for Cornwall Central, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
