Baseball Recap: George County Beats West Jones for Their Ninth Straight Win

With a playoff win on the line, George County rose to the challenge on Friday. They put the hurt on the West Jones Mustangs with a sharp 12-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rebels, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Preston McAdory spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cayler Havard was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

George County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February.

The win (which was George County's ninth in a row) raised their record to 21-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for West Jones, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-12.

George County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mustangs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
