Basketball Preview: Irvington Preparatory Academy vs. Victory College Prep Bulldogs
Irvington Preparatory Academy and the Bulldogs are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2015, but not for long. Irvington Preparatory Academy are on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Victory College Prep Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Irvington Preparatory Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. Everything went their way against Providence Cristo Rey as Irvington Preparatory Academy made off with a 90-67 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Irvington Preparatory Academy can attribute much of their success to Javen Medaris, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Major Davis, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Davis is crushing the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jahmere Evans, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, after only 20 points in their last contest, Victory College Prep made sure to put some points up on the board against the Argonauts last Monday. Victory College Prep managed a 55-50 victory over the Argonauts.
The victory got Irvington Preparatory Academy back to even at 9-9. As for Victory College Prep, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.
Irvington Preparatory Academy strolled past the Bulldogs in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 68-54. Will Irvington Preparatory Academy repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
