Basketball Recap: Lincoln Northwest Falcons vs. Conestoga Cougars

The Lincoln Northwest Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their 13th straight loss. They fell just short of Conestoga by a score of 59-56. While losing is never fun, Lincoln Northwest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 219th, while the Cougars are ranked 45th).

Conestoga was led to victory by Zachariah Smith and Owen Trofholz. Smith almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds, while Trofholz almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Noah Simones, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.

Lincoln Northwest's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Conestoga, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season.
