Softball Recap: Waltonville's Loss Ends 11-Game Winning Streak at Home

Waltonville dropped their record down to 23-9 on Thursday, which also ended the team's 11-game streak of wins at home. They lost 7-1 to the Waterloo Bulldogs. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Waterloo, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 17-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games.

For Waterloo's part, Sam Juelfs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.

On the hitting side, Claire Parker was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

Waltonville and Waterloo should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Spartans (ranked 140th) will meet Red Hill (ranked 544th) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Waterloo will face off against Mascoutah at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (25 vs. 160).
