Football Recap: Hillside Comes Up Short + How To Watch

If Hillside was riding high fresh off their 24-3 takedown of Chapel Hill last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hornets and the Southern School of Energy and Sustainability Spartans were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but the Hornets suffered a 14-13 defeat. The loss continues a trend for the Hornets in their meetings with the Spartans: they've now lost three in a row.

Xavier Stevenson threw for 49 yards and one TD. On the ground, Jaylen Starks rushed for 78 yards and one score.

Jonathan Dillon had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 221 yards and one touchdown on only 17 passes, while also rushing for 45 yards for Southern School of Energy and Sustainability. Dillon's passing game has become a key predictor of the Spartans' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-4 otherwise.

Hillside's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Southern School of Energy and Sustainability, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-4.

Hillside wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 49-6 victory against Northern Durham on the 24th. As for Southern School of Energy and Sustainability, they have also already played their next matchup, a 60-0 win against East Chapel Hill on the 24th.
