Soccer Game Preview: Pine Lake Prep vs. Lincoln Charter

The Pine Lake Prep Pride will take on the Lincoln Charter Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Pine Lake Prep comes in on eight and Lincoln Charter on four.

Pine Lake Prep is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Their defense stepped up to hand Langtree Charter Academy a 16-0 shutout on Monday. Sadie Peterson was a massive factor in the win as she booted in three goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Lincoln Charter made easy work of Langtree Charter Academy last Wednesday and carried off a 10-0 victory. Given Lincoln Charter's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 129th, while Langtree Charter Academy are ranked 460th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Something new happened last Wednesday as Carly Yates saw her first action of the season, playing five minutes against Langtree Charter Academy. Yates made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal and one assist A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

Pine Lake Prep's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 30 goals over those three matches. As for Lincoln Charter, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.

Everything went Pine Lake Prep's way against Lincoln Charter when the teams last played back in March, as Pine Lake Prep made off with a 4-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pride since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
