            Softball Recap: River Pilots vs. Shenandoah Zeps        
        
		
        
        
            River was handed a heart-breaking two-run  defeat in their last  contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Shenandoah  on Thursday. The Pilots' pitcher stepped up to hand the Zeps  an   8-0 shutout. The Pilots haven't had any issues with the Zeps recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive  victory against them.

 Ava Wohnhas made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. That's the most  strikeouts  she has posted since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box,  getting on base  in three of her five plate appearances with two  runs and one  stolen base.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Mallarie Maddy, who  went 2-for-3 with two  stolen bases, three  runs,  and one  RBI. That's the most  runs  she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was  Kaylee Hagan, who  went 2-for-3 with two  RBI, one  run,  and one  double.
River's win bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Shenandoah,  they are  on  a  17-game losing streak  (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. River will host Bellaire  at 5:00  p.m.  on Friday. The Big Reds have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.8  runs per game on average), something the Pilots will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Shenandoah, they will look to defend their home field  on Friday against Fort Frye  at 5:00  p.m.
