Blake is 2-8 against Leto since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets are taking a road trip to square off against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Blake knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Leto likes a good challenge.
Blake will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Freedom, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. The Yellow Jackets came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 15-10 on Tuesday.
C Hobbs was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Hobbs was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Blake got a massive performance out of J Feliciano, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Z Newton was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.
Blake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in February.
Meanwhile, Leto came up short against Sickles on Tuesday, falling 19-4. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Gryphons recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Nadia Vega made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 1-for-1.
Blake's record is now 6-8. As for Leto, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Blake has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .475. However, it's not like Leto struggles in that department as they've averaged .472. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Blake took their win against Leto in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-2 score. Will the Yellow Jackets repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
