Volleyball Recap: Nitro Takes a Loss

Nitro saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ripley Vikings.

Despite the defeat, Nitro saw an underclassman step up: freshman Brynlee Ullum had 12 assists and six digs. Rachel Tucker was another key player, getting four digs and two aces.

Ripley can attribute much of their success to Delaney Howery, who had 12 digs and two aces.

Nitro has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-18-1 record this season. As for Ripley, their victory bumped their record up to 25-12-1.

Coincidentally, Nitro and Ripley will both be playing Herbert Hoover the next time they take the court. The Vikings will host the Huskies at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Wildcats will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
