Volleyball Game Preview: Galena Pirates vs. Stockton Blackhawks + How To Watch

Galena has gone 8-2 against Stockton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Pirates will square off against the Blackhawks at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Galena comes in on five and Stockton on seven.

Galena is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Aurora Christian. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted since October 4th.

Zoe Blaum had a dynamite game, getting 26 digs and four assists. Those 26 digs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Ehrler, who had 11 digs and one block.

Meanwhile, Stockton beat Newark 2-0 on Tuesday.

Galena's victory bumped their record up to 31-6. As for Stockton, their win bumped their record up to 33-5.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's match: Galena has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5 aces per game. However, it's not like Stockton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.4 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Galena was able to grind out a solid victory over Stockton in their previous matchup back in October, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
